Ouch

Too much, too soon I guess.  I don't go back to PT until Friday and I'm a hurtin'.  I somehow managed to tick off my hamstring, as well.  I have no idea how that happened.  The last few days my hip is mad at me, my hamstring is really aching and now today my butt is killing me.  There are a whole lot of unhappy muscles on my left side and I haven't really been doing much (no walking for real, one quick bike session in 3 days).  Not having therapy for a week has not panned out!  Friday can't come soon enough!

I went back to MN for my follow-up with Dr. Larson on Monday.  He said the x-rays look good, which I knew (my left femur is so, so pretty now, beautifully shaped!).  He talked about the surgery a bit and showed me on the films what he removed.  He explained that he was able to loosen up the "tight" spots (the FAI) but that I have "loose" areas and those aren't fixable.  I was pretty painful on manipulation since I've had a bit of a flare up, but he didn't seem overly concerned about that.  He also pointed out the problem on my right side (ahhhh, it's so haunting me) and did some flexions on that leg.  OMG, I do not want to go through this again but dammit there are problems with that joint, as well.  I need to remind myself that this whole procedure and diagnosis is fairly new and I should be thankful that there is a fix even if the recovery sucks!

Anyway, he left it at "just keep making progress".  He knows I have no real short term big goals running wise, there is no point since I can't rush it anyway.  I'm just trying to get back to anything right now and that at this point, my recovery is pretty much up to the folks at Howard Head.  This ordeal is one hell of a tough and long journey with no guaranteed prize at the end.  Oof.

Oof is right. Sorry you are in pain right now. But keep trusting in the process. Hopefully the long road will result in big gains. Hang in there. And happy Thanksgiving a day early. :)

Sigh. Hopefully all will work itself out and you'll be pain-free again soon.
Happy Thanksgiving!
