Trying to figure it all out

The sudden access to an Alter-G has certainly mixed things up.  I'm trying to get everyone together to agree on some type of plan for me.  The people I am now working with are AMAZING!  I love each and every one of them, I really am lucky.  I have gone from the my lowest point dealing with a not motivated, distracted ortho in Duluth who could have cared less about getting to root of my problem or getting me back running/competing again (I'm still really, really upset about my experience there, as you can tell) to being in the care of some of the top professionals in the country who want nothing more than to get me healthy and running again.

Dr. Larson says "to keep it boring", as in not too much too soon.  Toni Dauwalter (she kicks PT ass for runners!), has worked with the Alter-G a bit and gave me a basic idea of where to start (more running, but a bit less weight than I was thinking it looks like!).  My PT at Howard Head is going to try to find time to go in with me on a weekend (his days off!) to make sure my glut is firing correctly (no happy glut, no happy running Jen!).  The doctor who owns the machine wants to make sure he talks with everyone else who was involved up until this point.  Awesome, awesome people in my life right now!!!

We are still working out a plan, I went back to the 'mill yesterday and did 5 on, 1 off of run/walk at 50% for 35 minutes.  I felt great during and great this morning but this afternoon there is some anterior hip discomfort so today I will be taking it really easy on the bike and with the exercises.  It'll be a kind of wait and see, day by day on how I react to the running motion again.  I'll go in Thursday before PT and go a bit longer with more running but at an even more reduced body weight, as long as I'm feeling okay.  BTW, the rubber shorts I have to wear for the 'mill are sweat factories.  I really feel weird jammed into those things, they are hot, thick and go fairly far down my leg towards my knees.  So odd for someone who tries to run in least amount of clothing possible normally.  Haha, maybe I can sweat off some of that long run fuel (okay, it ass fat) hanging out back there!  It'll be a while, I'm guessing, before I can get my HR up high enough on that machine.  I couldn't get out of the 120's yesterday.

I finally have a long term goal!  It's a crazy loose one, I just want to be able to do something at The Colorado Marathon.  I don't care if it's just the 5k and I don't care if I'm fast (but, I don't want to totally suck it up!).  My PT doesn't think it'll be a problem :).  It's my new hometown race so I really want to be out there on course.  Yeah, it's six months away but it's a nice carrot dangling out there!
