| Freezing Fog = Pretty Trees |
Woohoo! I'll be at three months tomorrow. It's a been a long haul, to say the least, but there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel now.
My outlook has changed, for the better of course, now that the Alter-G is in the mix. There are still a whole slew of challenges in front of me but I'm slowly beginning to feel like myself again. My glute has been exhausted, which I'm told is a great thing since it's really working now. PT is going great, still pinching ouchies when my hip angle is closed but most everything else is feeling pretty good. Still working on keeping the psoas loose but it is so much better than just a week ago.
I'm still working 50% WB on the Alter-G, but in a week or so we'll begin to slowly ramp that up. In an effort to stretch out the stride (and get the HR up a tiny bit), I've been ramping up the speed. Today was 8 1/2 miles at around 6:45 pace...life's a breeze when you only weigh a bit more than 50 pounds while running :).
Check these out!!! The Whole Foods in FoCo has them and I had a protein bar (chocolate coconut, yum!) after my "run" today and it was awesome! I'm super thrilled to have something vegan AND delicious for my post-run lunch I can eat on the way back home. I can't wait to try out the electrolyte drink when I'm back in real training. I have been so grossed out by the crazy dyes and other crap (HFCS) in the stuff I generally end up using when salty, sweaty and desperate for some potassium, salt and calories. This is going to be prefect!!
Speaking of healthy, Maria has me thinking it's about time to invest in a juicer. Matt has been getting different juices when we are out and about on the weekends (Fort Collins has some AMAZING vegan/veggie places), and they have been really great. Plus, beet juice will make me faster! I cracked up when I first saw this study a couple of years ago since I adore beets and eat them all time...now I need to make a juice that also tastes great (I tried once at my parents and let's just say the beet lover couldn't drink any of it, big fail). Tasty Harmony (this place rocks!) has one we haven't tried yet, I may need to give it a whirl this weekend and see how it goes down.
I guess I'm hungry since I keep talking about food, not my hip :). I have made a few new recipes in the past couple of weeks and have got a couple of great ones that I'll share once I get them typed up. We are suddenly way into tofu in stews! And, I've been playing around more with tempeh blackening it and I'm going for a jerk seasoned version this week since that sounds delicious. Also, jackfruit is new to us! I've only cooked with it once so far but it's super easy to work with, it just takes a looooong time to soak up the flavors. I think I need to get a crockpot to make working with that a bit more streamlined. I had fallen into a cooking rut, even though it was all good, I was just rotating the same old recipes. I'm glad I'm finally mixing things up again!

Keep it up. I am so happy you're feeling more and more positive. Merry Christmas to you, Matt and the fur kids!
I love to see you making progress and that there is some sort of an end in sight!
