| First run outside! Perfect weather day, 50 degrees and zero wind. |
Thoughts about my first run outside since getting my hip repaired.
1. I'm way out of shape.
2. I'm way out of shape, living in a really hilly area.
3. I'm way out of shape, living in a really hilly area at altitude.
4. I'm way out of shape, living in a really hilly area at altitude but it's okay since I love running. :)
I actually think it's the elevation more than the hills. I forgot how loud breathing is at this elevation. I haven't run much, at all, but I've been outside twice so far. Only 16 minutes each time, so that's a bit frustrating. I just have a chance to get warmed up and in a tiny bit of a rhythm and then I have to shut it down.
The hip joint feels pretty good, it's a bit achey afterwards but I was told that was to be expected. The main issue I'm having is still fighting with the nerve pain running down the back of my legs. We are really beginning to address this at PT now, so I hope it will lessen sooner rather than later.
The schedule just has me at 2 runs outside twice a week. I really, really want to do more but can't if I'm going to keep Alter-Ging (the Alter-G is great right now since I go longer, over an hour, and keep my HR up to a decent aerobic level for that time--I need that work, for sure!). I'm starting to crack. I want to beat my body back into shape and I'm not allowed to so that. I guess (okay, I know) the slow timeline will be a good thing in the end but I still find my level of restlessness building to a breaking point.

Patience. Remember the tortoise and the hare tale!
I understand the frustration but like you said you still have the Alter-G to help you get some running time in. Wish I had something like that for my ankle rehab. I had to do pool time which took a lot more time - in and out of clothes plus the rehab time in the pool.
