I got to run, full weight! I went to PT yesterday, got stretched out (I'm going to miss this part so much when I'm through with PT--I need to get Matt to learn how to do these stretches I can't do on my own!) and then I was told today was the day. Yippee. It was cold and icy outside, so off to the gym's basketball court we went. I jogged around a couple of times, it felt good. Then I started to stride out a bit so they could see my stride...it's good, but the left leg is most certainly weaker than the right still. And, I'm soooo out of shape, it's hilarious (okay, it's sad). So, I did that for out 5 minutes, trying to run fast so he could see my stride but running out of breath quickly, haha, pitiful. Then, I got sent off to the treadmill to run 3 on 1 walk for 16 minutes. It felt good, but very, very awkward. I won't be running full weight on a treadmill anymore, yesterday was just an exception...my PT doesn't like the 'mill after this injury since it's difficult to engage my glutes correctly (and, I did feel this when I was on it vs. running around the gym).
I'll Alter-G today and then I get to run 16 minutes OUTSIDE tomorrow! That's what I'm talking about, a run outside in Colorado. It's about time! This is going to be a extremely slow progression. My schedule for the next two weeks is set for me and it's only a total of 5 runs outside, 16 minutes week one and 20 week two, that's not much running at all. I'll still hit the Alter-G 3x a week, though. This seems to be a test to see how the joint reacts to the full weight running (plus, it is HILLY where I live). If I'm not too sore, I can increase the Alter-G time a bit, so that's good, but I'm still staying at 75% on that.
Fingers crossed that my hip joint reacts okay to this and there are no big setbacks!
