| NYE Hike up to Horsetooth Rock |
What a year. So much good and so much bad! Overall this year is very much a win. We finally did what we've been wanting to do for so long and moved to Colorado. That's huge! On the other end of the spectrum is my health. I basically lost this entire year of running. It was the end of March when the wheels fell off, where I basically stopped running.
Yeah, I rested and thought I'd be okay and able to still race Boston. Well, that didn't work out too well :). Boston was a huge bust, time wise, and the final nail in my hip's coffin. I do not regret trying to race there, it was a once in a lifetime weather day with the temps and significant
(understatement) tail wind on a course, that if run correctly, can be really fast. I had to try, that's who I am!
Normally I like to think about running goals for the upcoming year. I certainly can't do that this go around. I have no idea how my repaired and newly shaped hip is going to react when I get cleared to run outdoors again. My hope is to keep making progress, keep feeling good enough to want to want for more and to want to do it now!

So, onward to 2012! I promise to try my hardest to rehab this injury the best I can. I can't wait to be able to start up my walk/run progression. This may occur in a couple of weeks! That will be such a thrill, believe it or not. I feel like I don't even remember how to run! It's going to be really weird. I was cleared to bump up the Alter-G WB to 75% last week, a huge jump from the 50-55% I was at. It felt so much more "normal" to run at a higher weight, there was a lot better feedback. I was sore afterwards, not in the hip but in other areas (hamstrings and both glutes). That was Friday and I won't Alter-G again until Tuesday, so there will plenty of time for stuff to adapt/repair/calm down.

I just KNOW 2012 will be a better year for you. I am so glad you guys did accomplish moving to Colorado though. Your life there looks so peaceful and beautiful!
Those Alt-G's look intriguing. Too bad I don't have one conveniently around me. Best wishes on your recovery, and I hope to hear about your running exploits again soon.
